Anne Villard Blanc
11/29/1906 - 5/13/2005

Anne Villard Blanc passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 in Bakersfield. She was 
born Anne Josephine Villard November 29, 1906 to Kern County pioneers Ambroise 
and Eugenie Villard on their Kern County family ranch near Rag Gulch. The 10th 
of 11 children, she was educated at Quinn School and graduated from Delano 
High School in 1925. Anne also attended and graduated from Central California 
Commercial College in Fresno. She worked for the Edison Company in Delano. She 
was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Delano and active in the Altar 
Society. She later moved to Bakersfield and worked for the County of Kern in 
the County Clerks Office, as a deputy county clerk and affiliated with 
Bakersfield Legal Secretaries. In 1947 she married Henry E. Blanc, who was 
also from a Kern County pioneer family. They were wed in San Francisco at the 
historical French church, Notre Dame de Victorie, where her parents had been 
married in 1887. Mr. Blanc passed away in 1988. Anne was active in St. Josephs 
Catholic Church parish, serving in the Altar Society as president, as well as 
an active volunteer. She was also a member of the Young Ladies Institute and 
was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, where she received an award as a 
life-time member. She was active in the parents clubs of St. Laurence School 
and Garces High School. 

She is survived by one son, Henri V. Blanc, daughter-in-law, Margaret Blanc, 
and grandson, Loren V. Blanc. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, 
grandnieces and nephews who all knew and loved her very much. She was a very 
special lady and always generous with her time and love to her family and 
everyone she knew. The family would like to extend a special thank you to long 
time family friend and physician, Dr. Romain Clerou, for his consistent 
interest and care over her health for many years.

Visitation will be held at the Hopson-Anspach Mortuary chapel Tuesday, May 17 
from 3 to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. Her Funeral 
Mass will be at St. Francis Catholic Church Wednesday, May 18 at 10 a.m. 
Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to 
Hoffman Hospice.
