Corey is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Joan Wahl; grandfather, Paul Dunaway and grandmother, Rachel Ramirez. He is survived by his father and mother, William and RoseMary Wahl; mother, Paula Anderson; brother, Ryan Wahl; grandmother, Mary Dunaway; grandfather, Joe Ramirez as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Corey was always the most likeable kid anyone ever met. His friends were countless, his good humor constant and irreverent. Coreys good humor was always infectious and it was impossible not to feel better simply by being around him. Corey smiled all the time and there is not a photograph to be found in which he and everyone else are not smiling or laughing. Corey was known to pack more fun in a short life than most people ever could. Coreys interests were many and varied. From BMX racing to wrestling at Stockdale High School, from skateboarding to water sports. Corey pursued sports passionately. Most recently Corey took great pleasure in quad-riding with his brother Ryan and their friends. Corey had no closer friend than his brother Ryan, with whom he shared everything. He was also crazy about his beloved dog, Xena. Corey was a die hard 49ers fan and devote of NASCAR, rock music and video games. His favorite weekly activity was the family Sunday dinner at his parents home which involved lots of food and sports on the television before he started his shift at work. Corey was also widely known for his ongoing attempts to develop some type of fashion sense. His fashion statements included ever changing hair colors and styles, ball caps, pinstripes, an ever present white belt and his favorite Converse sneakers. All of these made him a true fashion individual. After family and friends, Corey took greatest pride in wearing the uniform of the Kern County Sheriffs Department. This is a family tradition which he worked hard to attain and devoted himself to continuing. Like everywhere else in his life, Corey was liked and respected at work by all who came to know him. Coreys family and friends take great comfort in knowing he is with our God and we will all someday be together. Though our loss for now is great, our love for Corey is greater still. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Coreys name to The Lupus Foundation, California Chapter, 2775 Cottage Way Suite 5 Sacramento, CA 95825.
