Irene Stives Warfield was born in Oil City, PA, July 10, 1909 to James and Edith Stives and died on September 19, 2005, in Bakersfield, CA. Her family moved to Orange County, CA when she was a young girl. She grew up in Orange County, attended the Olinda and Fullerton schools and worked in the Brea-Olinda High School. In Brea she met her husband of 63 years, Lloyd. They were married on June 23, 1938. In 1947, they moved to Mossyrock, WA with their two young sons. After arriving in Mossyrock, Irene first worked at the Mossyrock Post Office, then for many years as the secretary for the Superintendent of Mossyrock Schools. After her sons were raised, Irene completed her education at Central Washington University and began her teaching career in Snohomish, WA. Returning to Mossyrock, she taught art in the high school until her retirement in 1972. Irene enjoyed a long and full retirement. She and Lloyd traveled throughout the U.S. and Irene participated in many activities including Eastern Star and DAR. In 1996, Irene and Lloyd moved to Bakersfield, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; brother, Jim and sister, Nora. She is survived by her son, Allan and daughter- in-law, Mickey of Fort Mojave, AZ; sons, Lynn and daughter-in-law, Lora of Bakersfield, CA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
