She spent her first thirty years in Butler County and, toward the end of World War II, turned to the trade of welding on Pullman Standard railcars. She moved to Southern California in 1957, and married Archie Webb in February 1958. Although she was an at-home wife and mother for a number of years, she eventually worked in retail supervision. Selfless service is really what Betty was all about. Whatever Betty did, it was never about herselfshe loved to make others happy and often did so through food preparation! Her grandchildren will always remember how she assured they had something yummy to go home on. Service to her Lord and Savior was above all else, however. Over the past 47 years, she organized events and assisted Archie in leadership roles at various churches in So. California. Archie and Betty moved to Bakersfield in November 2001 and, in September 2002, for her 80th birthday, the Rotary Club of Bakersfield honored her with a Paul Harris Fellowship. Betty never met a stranger and adopted anyone who would let her! She went home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2006, after suffering a stroke, and she is rejoicing in Heaven with those that have gone before her that were blessed to call her mom, grandma, and friend. The void she leaves can never be filled; all who knew her are grateful for the experience.and an experience it always was! She was preceded in death by her sister, Mirian Kress; brother, Howard Weisenstein; son, Carl Snyder; and grandson, Carl Snyder, Jr. She is survived by her devoted and faithful husband of nearly 48 years, Archie; brother, Paul Weisenstein; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Chester Webb, Holly and Doug Culhane, Suzanne and Earl Kuhlman, and daughter-in-law, Cheri Snyder, along with 10 grandchildren and their spouses, and 7 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Laurelglen Bible Church, at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 9, with luncheon immediately following, and interment on January 10, at 9:00 a.m., at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Focus on the Family (Colorado Springs, CO) or Youth for Christ/USA (Denver, CO) in Bettys memory.
