Viola was born and resided in Bakersfield her entire life, attending local schools on their honor rolls, and working for Sears for 32 years. She enjoyed fishing hunting, camping, traveling, gardening and prowling yard sales and thrift stores for antiques. One highlight of her life was when she introduced Alateen, the 12 step, self help Alanon program for teens of alcoholic parents, to Bakersfield. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Fox; sister, Norma Varner of Idaho; cousin, Joanne Crosby of Shafter and numerous family members. As no services were wished by Viola, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kern County Chapter of the American Lung Assn., which was most supportive of Viola during her illness.
