William Clark Williams “Bill” 1/2/1925 1/30/2004 We mourn the loss of our loved one, our hero, our daily example of honesty, trust, dedication and love and Heaven rejoices as he enters his eternal home with Jesus Christ. No more pain, no more sleepless nights and because of that his family takes comfort as they temporarily say goodbye. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Shafter Cemetery, Santa Fe Way and Burbank, Shafter, California. Visitation is Tuesday, February 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter. Clark to his family, Bill to his friends, was born January 2, 1925, to John L. and Debbie N. Williams in Post, Texas. His family included 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Clark moved to California with his family in 1931. He was extremely proud of his service to his country, serving in New Guinea and Luzon during World War II. He returned from the service in January 1946 and soon met the love of his life, Mary, while at a dance. In 1947 they were married in Delano, California where they raised 3 children. In 1963, Clark moved his family to Buttonwillow, California where he worked with two of his brothers, Ford and Bart. In 1969 he started a custom hay business and was proud to have his sons work side by side with him. In 1979, friend, Gino Chicca asked him to join him in forming a trucking company, Remcot, Inc., to haul cotton modules. He so enjoyed sharing coffee and cookies with Janice, Christy and all the office girls while dispatching trucks for Farmers Co-Op Gin. Included in their large circle of friends were those they bowled with, fished with and their special friends from Balch Park. Clark always had a joke, a story or a prank up his sleeve to share with anyone he met. Until he became ill, Clark was active in the local American Legion, VFW, Buttonwillow Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, Pioneer Senior Citizens and most importantly his home church, New Life Fellowship. Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Mary U. Williams; his brother, Jim Williams and wife, Twila and his sister, Bea Kibbe all of Bakersfield; his children, Larry and wife, Annette Williams of Bakersfield, Joe and wife, Donna Williams of Bakersfield and Regina Houchin and husband, Butch of Buttonwillow. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Tanya, Candace and husband, Joey, Chris and wife, Jennifer, Carollee and husband, Aron, Jeff and wife, Lisa, Doug, Justin, Andrew, Matt, Megan and Katie and his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Haley and Gavin. Even though not officially grandchildren Clark loved Emily, Erin, and Thelma as if they were. His many nieces, nephews and cousins each had a special place in his heart. Thank you Lord for giving us this wonderful husband, father, grandpa and friend. At Clarks wishes donations may be made to New Life Fellowship, P.O. Box 261, Buttonwillow or a charity of your choice.
