"Woody" Warren (Woody) J. Wooden Services: Wed., Jan. 25th at 1 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., Wednesday, January 25th at 1:00 p.m. for Warren "Woody" J. Wooden, 82, of Bakersfield, who went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2006. He passed away peacefully at home, with his family gathered around him. Pastor Doug Davis will officiate at the service. Woody was born to Clarence and Olive Wooden in Bakersfield on September 3, 1923. He attended local elementary schools, KCUHS and was one of 138 in the first class of the new EBHS. He left school early to join the Navy when WWII broke out. He was on the Destroyer U.S.S. Laws, where he served as a signalman for three years, mostly in the South Pacific. He went to work for P. G. & E. two days after being discharged from the service and worked for P. G. & E. for 37 years, retiring from the Morro Bay Power Plant in 1982. Woody enjoyed riding motorcycles, RVing, and being active in the Elks Lodge of San Luis Obispo, the American Legion and the Oddfellows Lodge, having held many offices. He was also a race car enthusiast. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Mary Rogers Wooden; daughters, Shari Terra and husband, Ron, of Granite Station, Vickie Nash and husband, Lonnie of Templeton; like-a-daughter, Toni Blagg of Bakersfield; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lonnie Jr. and wife, Jennifer and their son, Brandon Nash, Larry and wife, Andrea and their daughters, Miranda and Kaia Nash, Gloria and husband, Alan, and their daughter, Hayli Baker, Jeff and wife, Kerri and their daughter, Madeline and Jeffrey Terra Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Brannon and husband, Tom; two nephews; three nieces; close friends, Rosie Roussel, Spud Simkins and Rita Young. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Rolando Young for keeping him mobile, Memorial Hospital and Skilled Nursing Staff, his caregivers, granddaughters, Gloria and Kerri, also Maria, Pat and others of Odyssey Hospice for their love and support. Woody and Mary lived in the Granite Station area with Ron and Shari since 2003. Having accepted Jesus as his personal savior, Woody found much peace knowing he will be reunited once again. John 3:16.
