Virgil Ray Worley (Popo) 
Services: Fri., Oct. 14, 1:00 p.m. 

Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at 
the Shafter Cemetery for Virgil Ray Worley, 79, who passed away at his home on 
October 12th. Virgil was born August 7, 1926 to Addie Bell and William C. 
Worley and has been a resident of Kern County for the past 56 years. Virgil 
served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines. Just as he was 
discharged from the Army he was invited to try out for the Saint Louis 
Cardinals Baseball team. However, at that time he only wanted to be able to 
return home. Throughout his life he continued to have a passion for baseball 
and played for the love of the game and the sport. Virgil last worked as a 
truck driver for Brown & Bryant Inc. Our Popo was a quiet, sweet and funny 
man. He was a member of Valley Baptist Church and a man of strong faith in 
Jesus. He loved his family and his partner and sweetheart of 54 years, 
Juanita, who went to be with the Lord in March of this year. Virgil was 
predeceased by his parents, Addie and William Worley; brother, Eldridge 
Worley; sisters, Linnie Worley, Marie Flowers, Lucille Lee and Dovie Sue 
Reeves. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Wagner of Bakersfield; sister, 
Lois Moore of Bernie, MO; grandchild, Moni Case and great-grandchild, Tessa 
Ogles, both of Bakersfield. Visitation will be Thursday, October 13th, from 
4:00 8:00 p.m. at Mish Funeral Home.
