Wright Services: Fri., Nov. 25, 11;30 a.m. Graveside services will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Friday, November 25th, at 9:30 a.m. and Memorial Services will be Friday, at 11:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Greenacres, 2550 Jewetta Avenue, for Irene Frances Wright, 98, who passed away November 21, 2005. Irene was born October 19, 1907 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. After her mother passed away, her family moved to Los Angeles in 1921 where she met Jimmy Wright. They married in 1928 and moved to Lost Hills at North Belridge, where he worked in the oilfields for Belridge Oil. Irene was a homemaker and raised three children during their forty-three year stay. While at Belridge, she was active in the Belridge PTA and the Belridge Sunday School. After Jimmys retirement in 1971, the couple moved to Bakersfield and bought their first home in Rosedale. Irene became a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenacres and there she grew in her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a member of American Baptist Women and helped with many mission projects. Grandma Wright was known for her delicious pies and candies that always made family dinners and church events special. Her kindness also extended to the school children who waited for the bus on the corner by her house. She loaned her sweaters to many shivering little ones. Grandma Wright loved and served her family as well. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wright, her sister, Louise and brother, Stan. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Parsons and her husband, Floyd; sons, Jim Wright and his wife, Jerri, and Phillip Wright and his wife, Elaine; grandchildren, Robert and Vicky Parsons, Linda and Tim Mazza, all of Bakersfield, Greg and Chaney Wright of Seattle, Steven Wright, Sarah and David Saiki and Julie and Brent Lau, of Bakersfield; nine great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Greenacres.
