Deifel 8/28/1914 - 4/26/2005 Chapel Services for Dorothy A. Deifel will be at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, April 29, 2005, at Hillcrest Mortuary. A visitation will also be held on Thursday April 28, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. Dorothy was born on August 28, 1914, in St. Edward, Nebraska, to Harry and Anna Webb and passed away on April 26, 2005. She graduated from high school in St. Edwards, Nebraska, and then lived with relatives in Taft, CA, to attend Taft College and Bakersfield College. In 1932, she moved to Bakersfield with her parents, sister, Alyce Webb Green, brothers, Willis Webb and Clifford Webb, all of whom have preceded her in death. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She worked as a legal stenographer and bookkeeper at various jobs and in 1940 married Alex Deifel. To this union three daughters were born, Judith Deifel Hathaway, Joan Deifel Flanagan and Gayle Deifel Ulman. Her daughter, Joan, has preceded her in death. In 1945, she and Alex Deifel opened Deifels Paint and she was a partner in the business until her retirement in 1970. Dorothy served as secretary of the Kern County Grand Jury in 1962-63. After her retirement in 1970, she spent several years in Santa Barbara. She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Deifel Hathaway, Gayle Deifel Ulman and husband, John; grandchildren, Tonya Hathaway, Matthew Flanagan and Megan Flanagan, along many nieces and nephews.
