Clarence (Wes) Westlund 
April 19, 1909 - May 16, 2005 

Mr. Westlund was born on April 19, 1909, in Washburn, Wisconsin. The son of 
Carl and Edla Westlund, he spent his youth fishing in and around the Great 
Lakes. In 1932 Mr. Westlund moved to Kern County where a year later he met and 
fell in love with his future wife. Four years later he and Florence (Polly) 
Burrows were married on September 16, 1937. During the Second World War Mr. 
Westlund was called to serve with the 14th Army Air Force in China where he 
spent a little more than two years overseeing the reconstruction and repair of 
landing strips. Upon his return home he, with the help of his wife, started 
Westlund Trucking and hauled for Hopper Steel. In 1947 Mr. Westlund became the 
proud father of his first and only child, Donna. A devoted husband and father, 
Mr. Westlund enjoyed a myriad of activities ranging from card games and 
fishing to world travel. He treasured time spent with family members and 
friends and took exceptional delight in croppie fishing from a float tube. And 
if not on a lake, you could be sure to find him on a golf course. Always 
caring, patient and strong, Mr. Westlund spent his 96 years enjoying life to 
the fullest and will be missed by all of those who knew him. A dedicated 
husband, caring father and proud grandfather, Mr. Westlund leaves loving 
memories to his grandchildren, Jordan and Ashley Lewis; his son-in-law, 
Richard Lewis; his niece, Anita Kattelman; his brother, Earnest Westlund; and 
his sister-in-law, Alice Westlund. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 
a.m., on Friday, May 20, 2005, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd.
