She attended college in Warrensburg, Missouri and began her teaching career in Hatch, New Mexico where she met and fell in love with fellow teacher, Mitchel Nidever. They married in 1938 and had one son, Lindley. In 1946, they moved to McFarland, California where Suzanne began a satisfying career teaching kindergarten while Mitchel taught high school vocational agriculture. Both were widely loved and admired for their excellent teaching and dedication to their students. Although illness shortened Suzannes teaching career, she continued to support Mitchel in his career as well as parenting their son and opening their home to two foster sons. Suzanne and Mitchel were well known in McFarland where they were members of the Church of the Living Savior. Suzanne loved to play the piano, have friends and family over for New Mexico style enchiladas, and to play dominoes. She and Mitchel enjoyed frequent trips in their fifth-wheel R.V. In later years, they created wonderful memories for their three grandchildren by taking them on many of these trips. Suzanne is preceded in death by her brother, Lindley and sister, Sylvia White, and her beloved husband, Mitchel. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lindley and Catherine Nidever; grandchildren, Eileen Nidever Pierce, Seth Nidever and Joseph Nidever; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Catherine Pierce; and foster sons, Tony Guzman and Rick Geisler. Her 90+ years of life were full and productive. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to her dedicated caregiver for seven years, Maria Alvarez and family. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 5/27/2005.
