Yule December 24, 1941 - June 6, 2005 Services: Thurs., June 16, 10 a.m. Herald was born in Martinez, CA, and moved to Bakersfield at the age of 4. He attended local schools, including Bakersfield College, and graduated from CSUB with a degree in Business/Public Administration. When Uncle Sam called in 1964, he joined the Navy Reserves and continued in the Reserve Program. He later served as an Admin/Assistant to the Commander in the Civil Service. In 1977, Hal learned of the Kern County Scottish Society. Being of Scottish heritage himself, Hal became deeply involved with the Society and anything Scottish! After forced retirement in 1995, Hal opened his Scottish Imports shop full time. People would come in just to visit, learn of their history, and always for a cup of tea. After several years of heart problems, Hal had a heart transplant on June 7, 2002. His doctors said it was one of the best matches they had ever seen. He had no problems at all. Hal was well loved by many in the community. He was able to empathize with people, was a great listener, and helped many in their time of need. He will be greatly missed by the Scottish Society and many in the community. Herald is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughter, Holly; sister-in-law, Gwen Yule (Sutter Creek, CA); niece, Wendy Yule-Olwell (Sacramento, CA); nephew, Don L. Yule (Kyle, TX); numerous nephews and nieces, as well as extended family. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2005, at 10 a.m., at Mission Funeral Home (California & S St.). Reception will be at First Congregational Church (Stockdale & Real). For those who wish, donations may be sent to the Kern County Scottish Society Building Fund, One Legacy (Jamie Campbell, 342-2585), or Houchin Blood Bank.
