Byron K. Sweetland passed away last evening [March 15?] at a local hospital. He was 81 years of age, a native of Ohio and a resident of California for the last fifty-six years, coming from Sturgis, Mich[igan]. He is survived by two daughters, Mabel S. Boyson [Boysen] of Berkeley and Eulavelle S. Guiberson of Dallas, Tex[as]; also a sister, Mrs. Orrie S. Wonder of Pasadena; one grandmother and one grandson, besides several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be at Lemoore, Cal[ifornia]. Ives & Warren Company are the directors in charge of arrangements." END Additional Comments: Pasadena Star-News (Pasadena, California). March 16, 1929 (Saturday). Page 2, Column 5. Byron K. Sweetland was born in Ohio on October 30, 1847 to Hiram Sweetland and Abigail (Brundage) Sweetland. He moved to California in the early 1870s and settled in Lemoore, Kings County, California where he married Laura Moore (1851-1907). One of their daughters, Mabel Sweetland, married Julius T. Boysen and they had a photographic studio in Yosemite Valley from about 1900 until her death in 1943.
