Ingersoll (1908) RICHMOND W. ARMSTRONG, well known citizen of Santa Monica, is a native of New Haven, Conn., and was born July 27th, 1848. His father, Lorenzo Armstrong, was senior member of the commercial house of L. W. and P. Armstrong Company, West India importers. Their principal offices were in New York City. Mr. Armstrong was a member of this house for about thirty years, but retired therefrom and came to California in 1896. He located at Ocean Park, Santa Monica in 1900, where he owns a fine residence at 135 Fraser Avenue. Mr. Armstrong was elected to the Santa Monica City Council in 1907 from the Second Ward and is one of the hard working members of that efficient body. He married in the year 1872, Miss M. C. Mead, a daughter of Rev. A. H. Mead, a Methodist clergyman of New York City. They have a son, Dr. M. M. Armstrong, of Los Angeles. Mr. Armstrong is a Royal Arch Mason, Scottish Rites and a Knight Templar.
