Mrs. Higuera is a daughter of Dr. Juan and Claudina (Olvera) Vazquez, her father having been a talented physician and surgeon and having been still a young man at the time of his death, in 1880, while on a visit in Mexico. Mrs. Esteban R. Higuera received the advantages of the parish school of the Catholic Cathedral of Los Angeles, and the Immaculate Heart Academy at Pico Heights. On the 17th of October, 1901, was solemnized the marriage of Esteban R. Higuera and Evangeline Vazquez, and thus were united the life destinies of two popular representatives of distinguished old Spanish families of California. Mrs. Higuera has been a member of the Woman's Club of Culver City from the time of its organization, and both she and her husband are communicants of the Catholic Church. Mr. Higuera is a Republican in politics and is affiliated with the - Woodmen of the World. The one surviving child is Miss Ynez Evangeline, a gracious young woman of talent and marked popularity, and a graduate of the University of California in Los Angeles.
