C. Wolfe, Editor HON. LOUIS WESTCOTT MYERS MYERS, Louis Westcott: Chief Justice Supreme Court, State of California. Born Lake Mills, Wis., September 6, 1872; son of Jesse Hall Myers and Elizabeth Louise Westcott. Educated public schools, and University of Wisconsin; graduated B. L. degree in 1893 and two years later the degree of Bachelor of Laws. Leaving Wisconsin, 1895, went to Chicago and there began the practice of law, and in 1897 moved to Los Angeles. From 1913 to 1923 was Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles. In January, 1923, was appointed by Governor Richardson Associate Justice of the Supreme Court to succeed Hon. Curtis D. Wilbur, who at that time became Chief Justice thereof. In April he was appointed Chief Justice of that Court to succeed Chief Justice Wilbur, who resigned to become Secretary of the United States Navy. Member Los Angeles Bar, San Francisco Bar, California Bar, and American Bar Associations, Los Angeles and Hollywood Chambers of Commerce, Los Angeles Municipal League, of which he was Vice-President in 1913; Los Angeles City Club of which he was President 1916; University Club of which he is Past President; Commonwealth Club of California of which he was Luncheon Chairman during 1924; State Chairman of the Near East Relief, and member of the Los Angeles Country Club. November 27, 1901, married Blanche Brown, formerly of Saginaw, Mich. Residence, 5326 Lemon Grove Avenue, Los Angeles. Offices, State Building, San Francisco.
