SAMUEL J. WHITMORE, LOS ANGELES
Born at Leesburg, Va., Oct. 29, 1865. Received his education in the public
schools and academies of the Shenandoah Valley. Prepared himself for teaching
and began an educational career, but was diverted to business and commerce by
the call of the West, where he entered the hotel business about twenty-five
years ago, and has enjoyed success all along the line from the lowest clerical
to the highest executive positions. About five years ago he retired from the
position of Vice President and Associate Manager of the Baltimore Hotel Company,
Kansas City, Mo., to become Vice President and General Manager of the Alexandria
Hotel Co., in Los Angeles. He is a man of gracious and charming personality and
a recognized leader in his profession.
