Forster has favored us with the following translation of a document in the Spanish archives of our county. It is a rough draft of a list of foreigners living in this city in 1836, and was procured for the purpose of making a report to the Governor. We have been compelled, in order to get each name in a line, to omit the occupations of the men enumerated; but, eleven were put down to commerce, nine carpenters, three showmakers, two tailors, two coopers, one hatter, and the rest teachers, soap-boilers, cooks, trappers, sailors, laborers, etc.: Names Age Nativity Whence emigrated Arr'd Luis Vignes 60 France Swh Is'ds 1831 Moses Carson 31 U. Warner and James McKinley. The latter resides somewhere in the vicinity of Monterey. This is a very curious document, and shows that Los Angeles, even forty years ago, had attractions to foreigners, whom it drew from all parts of the world.
