Shipley was a chauffeur for Jackie Coogan, child film star. He had recently been discharged from his position by Mr. Coogan. Shipley's body was found in a garage at the Coogan ranch near Campoya. Los Angeles detectives who found the body said Shipley had ended his own life by shooting himself through the head. Shipley left a suicide note that asked his parents in Tipton be notified and his body be taken to Tipton for burial. Shipley was sought in connection with the shooting of Joseph Block, a watchman at the Coogan home in Los Angeles last Tuesday. Block, who was seriously wounded in an exchange of shots with Shipley, has a chance of recovery physicians say.
