Marriage Rites for Local Couple Are Halted by Parents

The elopement plans of Miss Geraldine Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Beck
of 3644 Overland avenue, and William Evelyn, 18, of 9606 Lucerne avenue, were
interfered with last Friday night when the girl’s father, accompanied by
Detective Lieut. Harry Arnold of the Culver City police force and county deputy
sheriffs halted them on their way to Yuma, Ariz., where they expected to get a
license, and brought the youthful pair home. The couple were at the home of the
girl’s relatives when located by police.
