J. BANBURY Jabez Banbury, known to all old settlers as "Colonel" Banbury, died at his home on South Marengo avenue last night. Colonel Banbury was one of the old residents of the City and because of his integrity and ability was often called upon to fill positions of honor and trust. He was once assemblyman from this district, once city treasurer and twice treasurer of the county. Colonel Banbury was 70 years of age, and had been in poor health for several years. He lives, among other relatives, a widow and two daughters, Mrs. Dr. Crank of Pomona and Mrs. William E. Ford, of this city. Born in England, Colonel Banbury came to this country when but 12 years old; in 1854, he went to Marshalltown, Iowa. He entered the army at the outbreak of the civil war as a first lieutenant in the Fifth Iowa infantry, and after four years of gallant service was mustered out as colonel of the regiment. He came to Pasadena in the early seventies, and until a few years ago has been closely identified with the city's affairs. For several years he was associated with M. E. Wood in the real estate business, under the firm name of Wood & Banbury. The funeral will be held at the family residence on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Conner will preach. The G.A.R. and Knights Templar will send escorts and the former will have their ritualistic service at the house. The Masons will have charge at the grave. Masonic Funeral Members of Pasadena Lodge, No. 272, F.&.A.M., will meet at Masonic Temple, Tuesday, December 11th, at 12:30 to attend the funeral of our late brother, Jabez Banbury.
