Los Angeles Times, January 2, 1892, page 8:  Mrs. Amelia Phillips, mother of C. 
F. Phillips, of the Southern Pacific Co., died yesterday of lung disease at the 
residence of her son, No. 2417 East First Street, Boyle Heights.  The funeral 
takes place today from the same place at 2:30 o'clock p.m.

Los Angeles Times, January 2, 1892, Page 7:  PHILLIPS - In this city, Jan. 1, 
1892, Mrs. Amelia Phillips, mother of C. S. Phillips of the Southern Pacific 
Co., aged 81 years.  Mrs. Phillips was the first child born in Shelbyville, 
Ind.  The funeral will take place today, Saturday Jan 2, 1892, at 2:30 p.m. 
from her late residence, 2417 E. First St., Boyle Heights.
