Florence Avenue 10905 South Compton Avenue Inglewood, CA 90301 Los Angeles, CA 90059 Henry (Bubba) Lee Harris, Sr., was born on January 19, 1935, in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. He was the fifth of ten children born to the Late Gus and Mammie Harris. Henry is preceded in death by one child, Dennis Jerome Harris, and four siblings, JT Harris, Ollie Crowder, Helen Brandon, Earl Harris and Gus Harris. At a young age Henry accepted Christ and united with Eudora Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Henry was hard working from an early age and filled with tremendous ambition and a strong thirst for success--he was always thinking ahead. At the age of twenty-four he began working at Stephenson’s Chevrolet in Bastrop, La., as a mechanic. Soon he found himself wanting more and in January of 1964, Henry moved to California to pursue his unwavering passion to be successful. He quickly landed a job with General Tires and shortly afterwards purchased his first truck--which began his journey as a business owner. In 1977, Henry left General Tires and started his own business, Henry’s Tire Service. Owing and operating their own business was an important goal for Henry, but it was not their only goal. So in 1981, Henry purchased a single 18-wheeler and started H & D Trucking, where he eventually owned five trucks. He was owner and operator of both businesses. He became ill in 1994. After taking two years off to recover he returned to work in 1996 and worked until he retired in 2001. He spent is final days at Anna Rebekah’s Villa in West Covina, California. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Dorothy Harris, four sisters, Everlean Johnson of Los Angeles, Minnie (Tommie) Chris of Compton, Iristeen Harris of La Puente, Sadie Moore of Pittsburgh. Loving children Lee Oliver Hutchinson, Marjorie Mann, Dwight Harris, Henry Lee Harris, Jr., Jessica Harris-Titus, Alonzo Robinson, Dennis Jerome Harris, Jerry Sanders, Timothy Brown, Shelia Kyles, Angela Hardin, Sean Harris, Stacey Harris, Reginald Harris, Jo Etta Harris, Amy Harris, Antjwaun Harris, Monique Harris and loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
