Hocker Dies In California Friday, May 24, 1957 Native of Monroe Dies Thursday at Age of 79 Relatives in this community have received word of the death of Rev. H.H. Hocker, 79, of Monrovia, California, which occurred at his home there on Thursday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. Hocker was a native of Monroe. He had suffered a stroke a few months ago, but his condition was much improved and his brother Charles E. Hocker of Decatur received a letter from him that was written the first of this week. Death is believed to have been caused by another stroke. Rev. Hocker was a graduate of Taylor university and before going to California, he served as Methodist minister at Bluffton and Westfield. During later years of his pastoral work, he served as minister at the Hartzell Memorial church in Pasadena and The Church of the Good Shepherd, Methodist, in Arcadia, Calif. For about five years he has been minister of finance of the Methodist churches in southern California and Arizona. Harvey H. Hocker was the son of Joseph and Justeen Hocker and is survived by his widow and three sons and two daughters; also a brother and sister: Charles E. Hocker of Decatur and Mrs. R.B. McKeeman of Fort Wayne. Two brothers and a sister are deceased: John F. and Otis O. Hocker and Mrs. Mary Eldeena Oliver of Monroe.
