He was 81 and had been a resident of Whittier since 1967. Jim served in the Navy during World War II, mostly in the South Pacific. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1969 as a Lt. Colonel after 25 years of service including tours in Alaska, Turkey and Vietnam. From 1979 to 1989 he was the Procu rement Officer for Chrysler Nu Car Prep in Santa Fe Springs Ca. He was an avid sports fan, had a great sense of humor and great compassion for his friends and family. In later life he became an ardent fan of cross word puzzles, finishing two daily. In 1999, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and in 2003 he became a survivor of colon cancer. Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marian, a son James & wife Teo of Sussex NJ and two cherished grandsons, Ken & Rob Parker of Sparta NJ. As one of 10 chil dren originally, Jim is also survived by one sister and two brothers in Birmingham AL. He is also survived by many, many friends - all of whom will greatly miss him.
