Times Dec 1959 ETHEL B. ROBISON Early Sunday morning, Dec. 29, death clamed Mrs. Ethel Robison, 85, after an illness of 2 ½ months. On Dec. 24, she was taken to St. Jude Hospital, where she passed away. The family home is at 7602 Ninth St. Ethel Berkey was born April 21, 1872 in Hebron, Neb., where she grew to womanhood and taught school for several years. In 1897, she came to Calif. with her family. After graduat- ing from Los Angeles Normal School, which later became UCLA, she resumed teaching, having a school in Topanga Can- yon. There she met and was married to Joseph B. Robison. After living for several years on his ranch there, they moved to Merced, coming to Buena Park in 1915. Mr. Robison pass- away 20 years later, in 1935. Mrs. Robison served as presi- dent of the local Parent Teacher Association in 1918-20. She was also a member of the Woman’s Club, but her greatest interest was in the Congregational Church, where she was at var- ious times a Sunday School tea- cher and Cradle Roll Supt. She was until recently active in the Love and Service Class and the Womens’s Fellowhip. Survivors include four daught- ers and two sons, Irma Payton, Bertha Spohn and Albert Robi- son of Buena Park, Florence Porter of Phoenix, Ariz., Mable Payton of Wallace, Idaho, and Lewis Robison of Reseda; a sis- ter, Mrs. Eleanor Berkey Miller of Van Nuys; nine grandchild ren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Katharine Berkey, former local librarian, is a sister-in-law, Miss Elizabeth Berkey, well- known member of the Buena Park High School faculty, is a niece. The Rev. Gordon J. Baker con- ducted the memorial service at 11 a.m. in the Congregational Church. Serving as pall bearers were J. B. Sullivan, F. R. Dukes, W. B. Shaw, Harry Horn, Stan- ley Patchet and W. E. Davis. Interment followed in Loma Vista Memorial Park, with Ren- aker Mortuary in charge. Additional Comments: Ethel Berkey came to California in in 1897, taught School in Topanga Canyon and married Joseph Robison who was from Scotland. She was my Great Grandmother.
