Publishers (1880) Herman Zopf. Was born in Germany, May 15, 1837. In the year 1859 he emigrated to Brazil, and there began the raising of tea, coffee and tobacco. In 1864 he came to California and settled first at Sonoma, where he was engaged by W. Hood. After one year he went to Contra Costa county, then to Solano county, where he was employed in Green valley, and in the Fall of 1867 took up his residence in San Rafael and opened his Wine gardens. Married, March 28, 1872, Mrs. Philipina Herbert.
