PIONEER CEMETERY, YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK MARIPOSA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Transcribed 7 August 2000 by Becky Clark bclark@pe.net In August 2000, I was in Yosemite National Park, Mariposa County, California. Pioneer Cemetery is located next to Yosemite Museum in Yosemite Village. The village was swarming with tourists but very few were wandering among the old gravestones at the shaded cemetery. The lighting and seclusion were perfect for snapping photos. The Visitor Center nearby has a guide to the cemetery. I did not know that when I was there snapping pictures; otherwise, more biographical information on each of these pioneers might have been given. Some of the stones are in very bad condition, particularly Galen Clark's. It was a challenge to read the bad ones, such as James C. Lamoh or Lamon. If someone has the guide, I would appreciate any corrections they can offer.
