Ingersoll, Editor (1893) J. P. BERNHARDT, of Soledad, is a native of Denmark. He came to America in 1869, landing at New York, April 14. After acquiring the blacksmith trade he left New York and went to southeastern Texas, where he remained until 1875, when he came to California and after spending four months in Salinas he located in Soledad, where he has successfully pursued his trade. Here he has built up a good trade in the blacksmithing, wagon manufacturing and repairs and is also engaged in ranching. His marriage occurred in New York city, and he has a son, Roy, and a daughter, Mary. Mr. Bernhardt is a Democrat in politics, but is not much of a seeker for public notoriety.
