Ingersoll, Editor (1893) PATRICK HART, one of the well-known farmers and respected citizens of Priest Valley, Monterey county, California, is a native of the Emerald Isle, born in 1830. At the age of twenty he came to America, landing in Quebec, where he remained two years. He subsequently spent some time in Wisconsin, engaged in lumbering, and in 1859, came to California. Until 1861 he lived in the northern counties of the State, and at that time located on his present farm in Priest Valley. He raised the first crop of wheat ever raised in this valley, and threshed it in the old-fashioned way, tramping it out with horses. Mr. Hart was married in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Miss Margaret Burns, a native of Tipperary county, Ireland, They have live children, viz.: Mary, wife of John Clayton; Ella, wife of Leroy Akers; Maggie; Kate, wife of William Wescott; and Thomas.
