Ingersoll, Editor (1893) WILLIAM SCHMIDT, deceased.- William Schmidt was one of the first settlers of the Salinas Valley, and a pioneer of California. He was born in Oldenburg, Germany, in 1815, and came to America in 1845. He is an industrious and frugal farmer, and located on a claim in the Salinas valley of 160 acres. He was married in 1865, to Miss Francis Fabry, daughter of John Fabry, Esq., an early settler of Salinas valley. Mr. Schmidt died leaving a comfortable estate, a widow and the following children: William F., Annie J., Francis M., August H., Emma L. and Fannie A.
