Oliver Lewis Emlay, a resident of Pacific Grove, passed away at the county hospital in Salinas Wednesday, after lingering between life and death for several weeks as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Funeral services will be held today from Pell's undertaking parlors in Pacific Grove, but the remains will be shipped to Gilroy for burial in the family plot. Emlay was 55 years of age and was born in Alvarado, Cal. Gilroy was his home for some time. He was an experet telegraph operator for many years. When working for a newspaper in New York City he was able to receive and send 25,000 words in a night. He was train dispatcher on a railroad in Mexico for about 30 years.
