"Mrs. Margaret Farley, Church, Club Leader, Dies Unexpectedly

Mrs. Margaret Farley, well-known Napa church and club leader, died unexpectedly 
last night [September 14] at Parks Victory Memorial Hospital [in Napa].  She 
was 87.

Mrs. Farley remained active almost until her death and was making preparations 
to attend the funeral of a friend when she collapsed in her home yesterday.  
She was found by Mrs. Roberta Bulson who summoned a physician.

The wife of the late E[dward] Henry Farley who died in 1937, Mrs. Farley had 
resided at 1593 Seminary St. for 52 years.  The house was built on the ranch 
pioneered by her husband's father, Anderson Farley.

Mrs. Farley was born at Soscol and lived in Vacaville and Monticello before 
coming to Napa.  She was active in the Methodist Church, the Women's Society of 
Christian Service, and the Grange organizations of Napa, Pomona, California and 
the United States, serving as treasurer of the Napa Grange for 13 years.

Survivors incude a nephew, Harry Shaw of Los Angeles and two nieces in 
Vacaville.  She was a close friend of Mrs. Lillian Harrison Gibbs of Sonora, 
former Napan, who is making arrangements for her funeral. 

The services will be held at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Treadway & Wigger 
Garden Chapel.  Burial will be in the family plot in Tulocay Cemetery [in 
Napa.]" END

Mary McGugin was the daughter of Hugh [?] McGugin and Mary (Hickey) McGugin.  
She married Edward Henry Farley about 1891 (probably in Napa County.)  They are 
both buried in the Tulocay Cemetery, Napa.
