WILLIAM HARGRAVE. William Hargrave died at his home in Napa City on Sunday morning [September 21], at the ripe old age of 82 [72] years. He was a native of Washington County, Mo., and he came to California as early as 1844. He settled in the upper part of Napa Valley with Henry Fowler, and they owned a largo ranch together. In 1846 Mr. Hargrave was a member of the famous party that raised the bear flag at old Sonoma in June. At that time he was First Lieutenant of Captain Swift's Company in Fremont's regiment. In 1869 Mr. Hargrave sold out his ranch and moved to Napa City, where he lived until the end. During many years his health was feeble and be required the most careful nursing.
