W. Wooden His Demise on Friday Freed Him From Long-Continued Suffering. Death has at last come to the relief of John William Wooden Jr., who has been painfully ill for a long time past. He died at the residence of his mother, Mrs. L[ouisa] P. Wooden of Napa, on Friday forenoon [July 4]. Deceased was a member of one of the early pioneer families of California. He was born in Wooden valley August 17, 1866. He has for years sought to benefit his failing health by traveling about, but without success and finally returned to Napa to spend his last days. Besides his aged mother there are these brothers and sisters to mourn his loss: Mrs. Annie Mapes of Turlock, Jeff Wooden of Monticello, Mrs. Frances Reavis of Napa, and George Wooden of Napa. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon [July 5] at the undertaking parlors of D.C. Treadway.
