John Wooden Sr., a pioneer of Monticello, passed away Tuesday morning [November 26] at his home there. Death was due to the ailments of old age. Death came suddenly, though Mr. Wooden had been afflicted with heart trouble and asthma for some time past. The verdict of the Coroner’s jury was death from natural causes. He was 71 years of age. He leaves a widow, several sons and two daughters, Thomas J., George Wooden and Mrs. James Reavis of Napa county, John Wooden Jr., and Mrs. J. K. Mapes of Turlock.
