North San Juan Catholic Cemetery, North San Juan, Nevada County, CA Submitted by Rebecca Garrlentini Dec 2005 Driving directions: Driving on Hwy 49 towards Downieville & Sierra City, California, l eaving the town of North San Juan, on the right hand side, sitting upon a hill with a small paved road is where the cemetery is. You would have to park your car at the bottom of the small paved road off of Hwy 49 and walk up the small hill to the cemetery gate. It’s has locked gates and is completely enclosed with a fence. One would have to contact the below Cemetery Office listed below to make arrangements to be let into the cemetery for a visit. This is a Historic cemetery, small in size about 1 acre of land I would say and in good condition. It has uneven ground but does have a partially paved road, which leads into the front and middle sections of the cemetery from the Entrance gate. It has lots of trees and has well care for tombstones. I took photos on Sat. Nov. 12, 2005. Below is the contact information for the Nevada County Cemetery District Office & Maintenance Shop. I was told this is the contact for this cemetery by a passer by walking his dog on Hwy 49 as we were leaving. I was not able to see any tombstones, which indicated current burials. I have taken photos scanning from left to right and in the middle section of the cemetery for you while bending over the fence and gate, which was locked. I have titled the photos NSJCC to shorten it up a bit on photo icons. Hope this is helpful and thank you so allowing me to be of service.
