RED DOG CEMETERY, Nevada County, CA Located about 15 miles southeast of Grass Valley, CA, on top of a rocky hillock, Red Dog Cemetery is all that remains of the pioneer gold mining town of Red Dog. First settled in 1850 or 1851 by three miners, the town once had a population of about 2000 residents.
