In 1849 he came to California with Governor Bartlett. After residing in Sierra county two years he came to Moore’s Flat, in this county. Here he was one of the original company that built the line of mining ditches now belonging to the Eureka Lake Company. He was interested in numerous mining and mercantile operations, but of late years was unfortunate and lost what wealth he had accumulated. He was accidentally injured while mining two years ago, and this added to strain on his constitution incident to the excitement of the political campaign last Fall broke him down completely, and he has not been able to attend to business since the election. He was aged 64, a native of Minnesota and unmarried.
