ANAHEIM CEMETERY - VETERAN'S SECTION, Anaheim, Orange County CA This document will provide the guidelines for understanding the information contained in the following document. 1.SOURCES OF INFORMATION: * Transcription of Veteran headstones. * Original Anaheim cemetery interment record books dated 1867-1927 & 1928- 1980. * Local Civil War Historians/Members of Civil War Roundtable.1 * Misc. Internet sites.2 * Orange County Cemetery District Master Interment List3 2.MISC. INFORMATION: * Birth dates: Unless there is specific date (i.e.: 22JUL1829) the Birth Year is determined by the age information from cemetery list and/or interment books. * What Century...? Because of the nature of the Excel program, when determining the century-1800 or 1900-all dates from 1800 specifically says so. (i.e.: 22JUL1850) If 1900's it reads: (i.e.:) 20-JUL-50. * Age info.: All age information listed is the Vets. Age at the time of his death. 3. QUESTIONS/TYPOS/ETC... * If anyone has any questions/concerns or notices any typographical mistakes within any part of the document, please don't hesitate to contact me through one of the sources listed below. I will make any necessary changes or supply you with any additional info. or pictures of gravesites etc. that I can. Thank you for your time and interest in the Veterans. They are, of course, a very important part of our history as people and a nation. PROLOGUE (this information is from Melanie's submission) I am currently working with the Orange County Cemetery District Board members to get the damaged h.s.'s repaired and to purchase the star flagholders that were designed especially for vet's h.s.'s. The last little piece of info. I thought might interest you is in regards to the restoration of the cemetery and the historical status app. that was submitted on behalf of the cemetery. The app. for historical status (county) has been made.. The restoration work that needs to be done is going to begin very soon. After assisting Cynthia with a presentation at the Anaheim Historical Society meeting a few months ago, there were several members very interested in seeing the cemetery repaired. We were offered a donation from the society and one of the members approached me and donated $1000.00 of her own money to be used for restoration! Very exciting for us! (very unexpected as well). Your help would be most appreciated. ******************************************************************************* Copyrighted (c) 2001. Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives only.
