Hansen, who passed away at his home northwest of Corning at 1:35 a.m., January 4. His death was not unexpected, as he had been in failing health for some time. Hans M. Hansen was born in Lillehedinger, Denmark, October 27, 1864, and came to the United States in 1883. He was united in marriage to Marie M. Neilsen [Nielsen] in Lincoln, California, May 21, 1890, and to this union eight children were born, six of whom survive. For the past twenty-eight years, he had been a member of this community, where many have loved him for his sterling character and friendly nature. He was an elder emeritus of the Corning Christian church, and exemplified the Christian way of life in its every phase. Surviving are his wife, and the following children: Mrs. Lester J. Skidmore, Porterville; Mrs. Edward Lane, Oakland; Oscar V. Hansen, Sacramento; Mrs. David Wurschmidt, Chico; Pfc. Roy N. Hansen, U.S. army, stationed at San Luis Obispo; and Mrs. C.C. Coad, who with her husband, has lived with her parents for the past two years. There are sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
