R. KING.—This lady is a resident of Mohawk valley, and was born in Syke, near Bremen, Germany, September 12, 1825. She was married in Germany to a Mr. Dieterick. In 1855 they came to California directly from Germany, and settled at Gibsonville. Here her first son, Henry Dieterick, was born; and here also Mr. Dieterick died. In 1857 she removed to Mohawk valley; and in the same year was married to Fred King, who lived on the Sulphur Springs ranch, where three of their family were born : Fred M. (who was the second boy born in the valley), Nellie C, and Ida E. Charles D. was born in Marysville; Nellie died January. 7. 1878, after a brief illness of four days. Mrs. King now lives on the Mohawk ranch, and is the postmistress of Wash post-office.
