The inscription on the memorial was copied from a nearby tree "by a comrade." This is also the site of Historical Marker No. 212. This grave is located beyond Bucks Lake, off of the Oroville-Quincy Highway (County Road 414). From Highway 70/Main Street in Quincy, turn on Bucks Lake Road, and travel to the Bucks Lodge area (past the Lakeshore Resort) - less than 20 miles total. From the Bucks Lodge area, travel approximately .5 miles to the stopsign, and turn right. Travel approximately 3.1 miles on the Oroville-Quincy Highway. Just beyond the Grubbs Cow Camp (on the left), the grave marker is in a field on the right. The field is private property, and is fenced. Name Date of Birth Date of Death Markings/Notes Linthiough, P. Abt. 1833 9/1852 May have been a native of OH (marker says O.H.; meaning unknown). Surname may have been misspelled by whoever carved his burial spot into the tree. The decedant was just 19-years-old. Attempts are currently being made to positively identify this young man through the correct spelling of the surname and census records.
