There are many unmarked graves and several markers that are now illegible. It is possible that some of the persons marked "No marker" are not actually buried here; though, some of the markers may have been temporary, or have deteriorated altogether. The town of LaPorte is approximately 35 miles south of Quincy. From the outer eastern edge of Quincy, turn right on the Quincy-LaPorte Road. This is a very steep and winding road with severe cliffs, hairpin turns, and few guardrails. The road is closed whenever weather conditions do not allow for safe travel. Watch for sinkholes and rock slides. At 18.3 miles, the road splits. Stay left (County Road 120). In LaPorte, take Church Street left; it is clearly marked. The cemetery is near the end of the street on the right. From the Oroville side of the mountain, you can take Highway 162 to Forbestown Road, then LaPorte Road (approximately 46 miles). The town of LaPorte was originally Rabbit Creek, and was part of Yuba County. Then, the little town became part of Sierra County. In 1854, Plumas County took over. Burials prior to 1854, if any, are unknown. Earliest known death year: 1854 Latest death year: 2002 Name Date of Birth Date of Death Markings/Notes Addison, 2 Babies No marker.
