Catholic or St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sacramento County CA Following you will find general information on a cemetery in southeastern Sacramento County in California. The site was recorded by the Sloughhouse Area Genealogical Society in 1998. These are old cemeteries and most are not maintained although we are working to find groups to sponsor each. Many of the stones were indecipherable, as some are almost 150 years old; many had been vandalized. Whenever possible, our data from each cemetery was compared to lists that had been compiled in the past, by others. We have added names from those lists, even though we were often unable to find the actual gravesite within the cemetery. Located on Highway 16, just east of the entrance gate to Rancho Murieta South, this cemetery, accessed from the highway, is fenced although not locked. Still being used, large oak trees shelter the graves as golfers pass nearby on their way to the 17th green of Rancho Murieta South. Many of the stones have been destroyed and most of the wooden crosses are so weathered as to be unreadable; however, names of those interred here were recorded in the 1970's and we have added many of these names to our listing. ************************************************************************ NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
