He was a 4th generation Californian, and his great-grandfather, Asa Clark, was the first M.D. to practice medicine in Placerville, CA during the Gold Rush era. After graduation from Stockton High School, Asa entered the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, becoming an instructor of B-17 and B-29 pilots. After the war he remained in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War for two years and while stationed at Mather Air Force Base, he was a flight instructor of B-50 pilots. After the Korean War, he continued to fly with the U.S. Air Force Reserve and flew missions during the Vietnam conflict. He remained active in the U.S. Air Force Reserve until his retirement, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, in 1973. He found great pleasure in flying and was a member of the McClellan Chapter of the Daedalin Club. He was a prominent real estate broker in Sacramento and Placer Counties for over 30 years and was a past president of the Sacramento Board of Realtors. Asa also served as an Inheritance Tax Referee for the State of California during Governor Reagan's administration. He was a member of The Elks Club and the Sutter Club. After retirement, he and his wife, Jeanne, enjoyed many years together of adventurous travels around the world. He is survived and is greatly missed by his bride of 59 years, Jeanne Simons Clark; his children and their spouses, Stephen Clark (Sherry), Holly Clark- Switzer (Stanley), Barre Clark (Susan), Kelly Clark (Sue); 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Virginia Boynton and Betty Clark and five nieces and nephews and their children. Asa was a good man and is fondly remembered for his love of family, friends and flying.
