Mrs. Mary Cummings, relict of the late C.H. Cummings, died at her home, Ninth 
and O Streets last night at the ripe old age of 81 years. Mrs. Cummings was a 
woman who gained the respect, love and esteem of a wide circle of friends, and 
although having lived in retirement since the death of her husband a few years 
ago, she will be greatly missed. The late C.H. Cummings was for many years the 
financial agent of the old Central Pacific Railroad Company in this city, and 
for a long time was one of the Funded Debt Commissioners. Mrs. Cummings was a 
native of Maine, and leaves a son, Q.C. Cummings. The funeral will be strictly 
private.
