Francis M. Jones, pioneer merchant of this place, who was stricken with paralysis August 12th, died last night. The deceased came to California in 1852 and located at Cosumnes, where he clerked in his uncle's store. In 1860 he moved to Drytown and opened a store, but returned to Cosumnes and became proprietor of the Slough House. In 1883 he opened a store at Walsh Station and continued it until his death. He was married to Delia Miser in 1873 and the widow and eight children survive. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence here.
