Hart, who retired from active practice of medicine in Sacramento 12 years ago, spent his last years in San Francisco to be near his stepson, Lloyd F.Chase of that city. Immediate family survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Hart and a grandson,Lloyd F. Chase Jr. of Palo Alto. Hart was graduated from the Stanford University School of Medicine and began his practice in Colusa, Colusa co., Ca. where he was born in 1858. He moved to Sacramento before the turn of the century, and soon became known as an outstanding surgeon. He was active in the advancement of his profession and took part in organizing the medical groups which preceded the establishment of the Sacramento Society for Medical Improvement, an organization which he headed as president in 1911.His constant striving to improve his ability, led him to make many trips to medical centers in the east for further study, and at one time spent six months in Europe visiting clinics and medical centers. His studies in this country were at such institutions as the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minn. where he developed a close friendship with the Mayo brothers, operators of that institution. In 1926 he was elected an honorary member of the American College of Surgeons in recognition of his ability and service. Hart's years in Sacramento were marked by his contributions to many charities. He was a member of the Union Lodge of Masons No.58, the Sacramento Commandery No.2 Knights Templar, the Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine, and Sacramento Chapter No.3, Royal Arch Masons. He was the last survivor of his generation having been deceased by his brother, the late E.C. Hart who served on the Third District Court of Appeal. Masonic services will be held Monday at 11 AM in the East Lawn Chapel, and burial will in the East Lawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being made by, Clark-Booth and Yardley.
